Often the one thing that new writers often times struggle with is that they dont know how to find the time to write. Even veteran writers struggle with this and give up because they just cant seem to keep up with every day life and everything else that is going on. For me, as I sit here writing the blog that I should have wrote last night but got wrapped up in Holiday gatherings and finishing up Christmas for another family, it crossed my mind.
So here’s a few tips on how to make time to write that I’ve learned over the years:
1) Schedule an hour or two a day and stick to it. It can be the same time every day, say before bed or when you wake up or a different time every day.
2) Make it a part of your routine. It takes a couple of weeks to get used to but once it’s routine, you’ll find it much easier.
3) Realize that there will be days when you dont get to write. Sometimes, things happen and that’s ok, just give it your best the next day and enjoy whatever you are doing instead of writing.
4) Tell others what you’re doing. You’ll find sticking to it much easier when others are cheering for you too.
And finally and most importantly, 5) Remember we’ve all been there and you’ve got to give yourself a break till you find what works for you.
